Zoning Ordinance

Bismarck’s existing zoning and subdivision ordinance is adopted as Title 14 of the Bismarck Code of Ordinances.

An entirely new zoning and subdivision ordinance is underway, with an expected completion by the end of 2025. This will be called the Bismarck Land Development Code. The current status of this project and an opportunity to be involved is available at the project website:

Zoning Map

The official zoning map below identifies areas where districts designated by the zoning ordinance are applied. You may use the search in upper right to find addresses. The outside boundary of this map is the Extraterritorial area, where Bismarck has zoning jurisdiction. Inquiries outside of this area should be directed to Burleigh County Building/Planning/Zoning.
