Borrowing Basics

Explore & Borrow

Visit the library to explore our collection of over 190,000 books, movies, games, audiobooks, and more. You can also search our collection online, including items from 20 additional Central Dakota Library Network locations that can be delivered to the library for you to borrow.

Check out items with your library card, or a valid photo ID if you forget your card.

See Loan Periods & Limits to find out how many items you can borrow, and how long you can keep them.

Request & Pick-Up

Items can be placed on request by signing into your borrower account with your library card number and PIN or by contacting the library. You can request up to 15 items at a time.

You'll be notified when your items are ready for pickup. Pick them up at the "Items On Hold" shelf and bring them to the desk for checkout, or use one of our self-checkout kiosks. For curbside pickup, park in the designated spot, call us, and provide your library card number.

Renew & Return

Most items can be renewed up to two times for a period of two weeks, unless requested by others. Sign in to your borrower account or contact the library to renew.

Ready to return? You can return items to one of our convenient outdoor drops or bring them inside to the Checkout Desk. There are no daily fines for overdue items, but you will be notified of overdue returns. If items are lost or returned damaged, you may be charged for their replacement.

See our Public Service Policy for complete borrowing policies.
