Design Standards Guide

The Design Standards Guide (PDF) is a key resource for planning and designing municipal infrastructure projects within the City of Bismarck. It features relevant excerpts from City Ordinances, the most current version of the Construction Specifications for Municipal Public Works Improvements, and a collection of best practices and technical guidelines. 

These materials are especially useful when designing new developments involving grading, water distribution, sanitary sewer systems, stormwater facilities and pavement. While not intended to be an exhaustive manual, this reference is meant to support consistency, quality, and compliance in public and private development projects. Users are encouraged to consult with City Engineering staff for clarification or additional requirements specific to their project.
