  2. Pillowcase Project: Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Training for Kids

    Children's Library Story Room

    Our local Red Cross has partnered with the library to offer FREE youth disaster preparedness presentations. This program teaches students to identify the best ways to stay safe during emergencies and the best ways to prevent and stay safe during a home fire. There will also be discussion on the role science plays in emergency preparedness. Students will be taught coping skills to help manage stress during emergencies and in everyday situations, and they will gain confidence in their abilities to be prepared for emergencies through hands-on activities. Upon completion, they will be encouraged to use their knowledge to act as advocates for emergency preparedness in their homes and communities. Pillowcase Project is for students in grades 3-5 (ages 8–11). Preregistration is required. Call 355-1489 or stop by the library to register.

    Chess Club for Kids is open to young people who want to learn about and play chess. The club will be led by Kamryn Hellman. No registration is required for this club that will meet twice monthly on Thursday evenings in the Children's Library Story Room. Participants under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult or companion aged 12+.

  1. Teen HQ Walk-In Hours

    Teen Headquarters (HQ)

    Walk-in hours are times when library staff is present, and technology and gaming are available to use in HQ. During regular Library hours when walk-in times are not available, HQ will be available for individual or group study by teens in grades 6-12 by accessing a key from the Adult Information Desk. Teens are required to show a school or photo ID to Library staff in order to use the room. If teens do not have a school ID, they can ask to have one made by the Library staff. They should stop by the Children's Information Desk to inquire. Electronics and other select items are only available for check-out use during HQ walk-in hours when the room is monitored by Library staff or volunteers.
