  1. The Unique History of the Bank of North Dakota with Clay Jenkinson and Dr. Larry Skogen

    August 17, 2022, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
    @

    Library Meeting Room A

Join nationally recognized historian, author, and public humanities scholar Clay Jenkinson in discussion with historian and former Bismarck State College president Dr. Larry Skogen to explore the historical factors that led to the development of the Bank of North Dakota at a time of widespread agrarian discontent. North Dakota is the only state with a people-owned bank—as well as a state-owned grain mill and elevator. Skogen and Jenkinson, back in the saddle after their successful BSC joint lecture series, will examine the 1917-1919 origins of the Bank in the work of the Nonpartisan League, led by agrarian radical A.C. Townley.

  1. Thinking Money for Kids - Financial Literacy Exhibit

    July 16, 2022, 9:00 AM - August 22, 2022, 9:00 PM

TM4K is a traveling exhibition designed to teach kids and their families about money. The multimedia experience is designed for children ages 7 to 11, as well as their parents, caregivers, and educators. The interactive exhibit uses games, activities, and a fun storyline to help children understand what money is, its function in society, money choices, and money values, such as fairness, responsibility, and charitableness. The library is hosting the exhibit thanks to a competitive national grant from the American Library Association (ALA) and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation. The exhibit will be on display, along with a series of related special events, from July 16 to August 22, 2022.
