This story time is for children held in caregiver laps for books, songs, and puppets. Through this story time interaction, your baby will develop language and social skills. Plus, story time fosters a close emotional relationship between you and your baby. Babies learn to associate books with the pleasure of being with parents, and this pleasure will translate to a love of reading.

This story time focuses on books, puppets, and songs. Speaking puppets help bring stories to life and spark the imagination in your child. Our main focus at Preschool Story Time is to instill a love of reading, encourage creativity, and help children become aware of the world around them.

Children ages 7-11 are encouraged to join our friends from Northern Plains Dance. They will use beginning dance techniques to present a well-known story visually. This condensed version of Northern Plains Dance’s popular "Dance Me a Story" summer workshop is a class specifically geared towards children with no dancing experience. The children work together to choreograph the story and present their dance production at the end of the session. Sponsored by the Bismarck Library Foundation.

During regular Library hours when walk-in times are not available, HQ will be available for individual or group study by teens in grades 6-12 by accessing a key from the Adult Information Desk. Teens are required to show a school or photo ID to Library staff in order to use the room. If teens do not have a school ID, they can ask to have one made by the Library staff. They should stop by the Children's Information Desk to inquire. Electronics and other items are only available for check-out use during HQ walk-in hours when the room is monitored by Library staff or volunteers.

Relax the afternoon away while making something special! Either bring a project from home or dig through our supplies to find an awesome project to make! Teen activities in HQ are only available to youth going into grade 6 through 12.
