The guitar virtuoso Peter Fletcher will perform a free concert at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library on Monday, November 14, at 7:00 pm. Peter Fletcher is an American classical guitarist based in Detroit and New York City. He performs over 80 concerts annually, and his recordings on the Centaur Records and Towerhill Recordings labels have been critically acclaimed. Peter offers an audience-friendly, solo recital, including repertoire that runs the gamut from the Baroque Period through the 20th Century. In addition, Peter will perform three piano pieces by Edvard Grieg, of which he wrote the transcriptions. The concert will culminate with Isaac Albeniz’s Rumores de la Caleta, one of the most exciting Spanish works in the classical guitar repertoire. Time to get creative! The Friends of the Bismarck Public Library are asking aspiring artists of all ages to help them create some new bookmark designs. The Create Your Own Bookmark contest designates five age categories from which winning designs will be chosen. Selected designs will be printed as bookmarks and distributed at the library in 2023. To enter, complete the contest entry form and drop it off at the Children's Library by December 1.

B.A.R.K. is for kids who want practice reading with non-judgmental listeners—dogs! The Library offers this special program with local therapy dogs. Children in grades K-5 sign up to read aloud to a dog for 20 minutes (handler present). Contact Youth Services for details and to register.

During regular Library hours when walk-in times are not available, HQ will be available for individual or group study by teens in grades 6-12 by accessing a key from the Adult Information Desk. Teens are required to show a school or photo ID to Library staff in order to use the room. If teens do not have a school ID, they can ask to have one made by the Library staff. They should stop by the Children's Information Desk to inquire. Electronics and other items are only available for check-out use during HQ walk-in hours when the room is monitored by Library staff or volunteers.
