    Interested in getting involved in your community? Consider joining the Bismarck Library Foundation board of directors. The Bismarck Library Foundation raises private funds to enhance the programs, resources, and facilities of Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library. 

    Directors are unpaid volunteer positions. All directors must be residents of Burleigh County. As a Foundation director, your responsibilities include: 

    • Attend Board meetings on a regular basis either in person, via phone, or electronically; 
    • Make  a financial contribution of at least $100 annually to the Bismarck Library Foundation in recognition of the importance of its mission and objectives;
    • Foster in the community the spirit of “good will” by informally educating others about the Library and its various services;
    • Assist the Bismarck Library Foundation in meeting its fundraising goals by working with the Executive Director and the Board on specific tasks using personal skills and in recruitment of potential donors;
    • Be informed of Library services and needs so as to vote the expenditure of Foundation funds in a knowing manner;
    • Assist in the recruitment of potential board members by making recommendations to the Nominating Committee.

Upon committee recommendation, the Board votes on the acceptance of any new board members. If there are no board openings, your information will be kept on file for future opportunities.
