Century Avenue east of Roosevelt Drive is planned to reopen to traffic the evening of Wednesday, October 29, 2025. While the road will be open to traffic, the outside lanes in each direction will remain temporarily coned off for a couple more weeks as crews wrap up final touches like grass seeding.
Transformative improvements with this roadway project include: widening from a two-lane asphalt road to a five-lane concrete road, adding curb and gutter, adding a 10-foot-wide bike trail along the north side of Century Avenue, adding a regular sidewalk along the south side of Century Avenue, adding light poles, and adding pedestrian crosswalks with median refuge islands at Greensboro Drive and at Roosevelt Drive.
Additionally, a brand-new stretch of 52nd Street now connects Century Avenue to Gold Drive. This new two-lane asphalt roadway improves connectivity and emergency service access to developing neighborhoods in the northeast part of town.
