[ARCHIVED] Today's June 5 Sandbagging Operations

The City of Bismarck Emergency Operations Center reports that 81,600 sandbags were filled Saturday, June 4 with 13,000 sandbags stockpiled for reserve.

Today, sandbags can be picked up at the Missouri Valley Fairgrounds, Sandbag Charlie (Bobcat) and at the Civic Center. Approximately 5,700 sandbags are available at the Civic Center and once exhausted this drop point will close. Self-fill sites are available at Horizon Middle School and at the South 12th and Santa Fe Ave. sites. Volunteers are needed at these sites.

The Sunday Sandbag Throw takes place at the NPCC today from noon until 6:00 p.m. Sandbags filled at this event will be used for levee protective measures.

After today, sandbag operations will be suspended with the Missouri Valley Fairgrounds and Northern Plains Commerce Center sites continuing to provide sandbags and sand for self-fill. Some equipment will be relocated to the Bobcat site and will remain functional but not operational until the need for sandbags arises.
