Riverwood Drive has been reopened to local traffic as of 6:30 pm on Thursday, June 2. Residents are permitted to return to their homes until 3:00 a.m. Friday morning, June 3. Levee construction will resume at 3 a.m. It is anticipated that the Southport and Fox Island area will be reopened to residents sometime the afternoon of June 3rd.
Due to the narrowed roadway traffic will be restricted to one lane only. Vehicles currently in the area that are pulling trailers will be allowed to leave; however vehicles pulling trailers will not be allowed to enter due to risk to the dikes. Persons traveling to this area are encouraged to use the shuttle service and not bring vehicles unless necessary to minimize traffic and parking congestion in the area. Traffic checkpoints will be established for traffic control. All traffic must use extreme caution to avoid any damage to the established dikes. Residents on Harbor Drive may access Mills Ave on Traynor Lane.
Residents of Fox Island may also access Riverwood Drive via Traynor Lane.
