The self-fill sandbag site located at the Ash Coulee water tower, west of Washington Street has been moved to the south parking lot at Horizon Middle School.
Volunteers are needed at this and other sandbag sites. Volunteers are reminded to wear gloves and bring a shovel.
Other self-fill sites are located throughout the city and the county. Those sites are as follows:
• Ash Coulee Water Tower, West of Washington Street on Ash Coulee Drive
• Santa Fe Avenue, Cottonwood Complex west of South 12th Street
• Whispering Bay Subdivision, Shoreline Circle
• 48th Avenue and Sibley Drive (this site was previously located at Sibley Drive and Hester Drive)
• Ponderosa Park
• Hogue Road
Volunteers are also needed at all three of the city’s manned sandbag sites, located at the following sites:
• Sandbag Charlie (521 South 22nd Street) – open 24 hours a day
• Missouri Valley Fairgrounds (3805 E. Bismarck Expressway) - open 24 hours a day.
• Sandbag Central South Northern Plains Commerce Center (1901 Northern Plains Drive) - open 24 hours a day.
Volunteers at the manned sites must register before they begin filling sandbags. Parental consent is required for those under age 18. Consent forms are available on site or online at www.bismarck.org.
Volunteers are asked to ride the CAT bus to the manned sandbag sites. Volunteers should meet in the southeast corner of the Kirkwood Mall parking lot (JC Penney wing). Buses are running every 30 minutes until midnight. After midnight, volunteers should contact Taxi 9000 at 223-9000 for transportation to the sandbag sites.
