The City of Bismarck’s 2011 CDBG Application

The City of Bismarck invites the public to comment on its proposed 2011 Annual Action Plan and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application. CDBG funds must be used primarily for activities that benefit low and moderate-income persons. Congress has not finalized the federal budget, so the CDBG allocation is an estimate and subject to change. The City proposes to use an estimated allocation of $275,000 and $14,500 in unspent funds from prior years as follows:

• Abused Adult Resource Center: $12,000 for renovation at Seeds of Hope• Arc of Bismarck: $10,500 for accessibility improvements
• Bismarck Parks & Recreation District: $11,500 for Kiwanis Park playground • Bridging the Dental Gap: $7,000 for nursing home outreach
• Burleigh Council on Aging: $7,400 for lighting at the Senior Center• Burleigh County Housing Authority: $35,000 for improvements at The Terrace
• Citywide: $30,000 for accessible curb ramps• Community Action: $55,000 for housing accessibility (renters & owners)
• Lutheran Social Services: $2,500 for the Healthy Families Program• Mental Health America: $10,000 for facility renovation
• Pride, Inc. & Dacotah Foundation: $10,000 renovation of Manchester House• Ruth Meiers Hospitality House: $1,000 for emergency assistance and $10,100 to
renovate the family shelter & Horizons• Salvation Army: $7,000 homeless prevention/emergency assistance
• Welcome House: $9,000 for case management & emergency housing for homeless families
• West Central Human Service Center: $2,500 for emergency homeless assistance • Youthworks: $15,000 for facility improvements
• Administration: $54,000

Once the federal budget is approved, funding for the above activities will be adjusted accordingly. The public may comment on the proposed plan as follows:

Inquiries about the Annual Plan or requests for assistance may be made at the same office. The City Commission will take final action on the application at its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
