Officer Involved Shooting

On October 15, 2017 at 9:47 a.m., a Bismarck Police Officer arrived at the Bismarck Motor Motel, 2301 East Main Avenue, to do follow-up on an unrelated call. Before the officer could get out of his squad car, he was attacked by the suspect, who punched him in the head repeatedly, and was gouging his eyes.

The officer fought back, and even tried to Tase the subject, which was ineffective. Therefore, the officer shot the suspect in the abdomen to stop the attack.

The suspect, whose identity is unknown at this time, was taken to a local hospital where he is currently in surgery. The officer was also taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for head and serious eye injuries.

The case is under investigation.
