[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Airport - Public Information Workshop July 12

Airport Unveils 20-year Conceptual Development Alternatives

The Bismarck Airport will hold its second airport master plan public information workshop on Wednesday, July 12th from 4-7 pm in the airport main terminal lobby.   The purpose of the workshop is to invite the public to view and provide feedback on a series of conceptual airport development alternatives which guide the development of the airport over the next twenty years.  Alternatives on display will include future concepts for airside, landside, terminal and parking facilities. Public feedback received during the workshop will be documented and assist the airport in selecting a preferred airport development concept to carry forward in the preparation of the airport master plan and be used to develop an Airport Layout Plan for Federal Aviation Administration approval.

An airport master plan is a comprehensive planning tool used to guide future airport development and decision-making for a period of twenty years. An airport master plan consists of multiple elements including an evaluation of existing facilities, a forecast of future passenger and air cargo demand, recommended facilities needed to support future demand, airport development alternatives, an environmental overview, and an airport capital improvement plan.

The airport master planning process includes a public outreach program designed to elicit feedback from the airport’s stakeholder groups and communicate the final recommendations of the study. The public information workshop to be held on July 12th is an opportunity for the public to get information and give input on the plan. Input from people not able to attend the meeting will be gathered from airport’s website at www.bismarckairport.com. The website will also hold information about the plan’s progress made to date.

The development of the master plan is funded through a Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) Grant and local funds.

The master plan is being led by local consultant, Mead & Hunt with support by specialty services sub-consultants Kim Kenville Aviation Consulting, Martinez Geospatial and Leibowitz and Horton.
