Notice about the City of Bismarck’s 2017 CDBG Application
The City of Bismarck invites comments on its proposed 2017 Annual Action Plan & Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application. CDBG funds must be used primarily for activities that benefit low and moderate-income persons. Bismarck’s proposes to use its 2017 CDBG allocation of $328,206 plus $3,200 in unused funds from prior years for the following activities:
• Abused Adult Resource Center: $12,500 for renovation of Pam’s Shelter
• Aid, Inc.: $8,500 for emergency housing assistance
• Bismarck Parks & Rec: $44,000 for renovation of 23rd St. Park
• Burleigh County Council on Aging: $25,000 for renovation of the Senior Center
• Burleigh County Housing Authority/CHBI: $40,500 to improve accessibility of Row Houses
• Community Action Program: $29,500 for citywide housing accessibility
• Dacotah Foundation: $16,500 for roof renovation at Custer Home
• High Plains Fair Housing Ctr.: $2,500 for education & outreach
• Legal Services of ND: $4,500 for legal assistance with housing
• Lewis & Clark Reg. Development Council: $20,000 for emergency repairs on single family homes
• Lutheran Social Services of ND: $5,700 for Healthy Families Program
• Ruth Meiers Hospitality House: $26,000 for replacement of hot water tanks & pumps
• Salvation Army: $8,500 for homelessness prevention
• Welcome House: $3,750 for emergency housing assistance
• West Central Service Center: $3,750 for emergency housing assistance
• Youthworks: $11,000 for roof repairs
• Administration: $63,206
• Contingency funding: $6000
• If more monies become available, the following may be funded: renovation of Dacotah Recovery Center, activities that received reduced funding, or urgent need activities in an emergency.
• The following were not funded due to insufficient monies: Veterans Memorial Library job search program; and services at Ruth Meiers Hospitality House.
The public may comment on the proposed plan and CDBG projects as follows.
