There has been a concrete buckle in the westbound lane of I-94 in Bismarck near Exit 161 (Bismarck Expressway). Traffic is in the passing (left) lane and being routed on to the 10-foot shoulder. The speed limit has been reduced to 25 MPH. Crews are on site working to fix the buckled section.
About the I-94 Bis-Man Project: It will continue to be open to east and westbound traffic throughout the construction project, utilizing a combination of lane closures and head-to-head traffic.
Twelve-foot width restrictions remain in place.
Speeds are reduced to 45 mph. Speeds may be reduced even further at times throughout the construction zone.
Vehicles are encouraged to use the zipper merge technique to enter sections of lane reductions in this project. To zipper merge, use both open lanes until the orange cones direct traffic into a single lane. At that point, vehicles should take turns alternating into the lane reduction to move more traffic more efficiently through the construction zone.
Construction work is expected to be completed in late fall.
