At 5:58 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 825 N 4th St.

The first arriving officer gave an initial report of a residential structure that had smoke showing. The occupants of the home met the fire crew and indicated everyone was out of the structure. The fire crew made their way up to the second floor and found fire in an area around a window that was extending towards the ceiling. The fire was quickly extinguished. Crews ventilated the smoke from the building and checked to see if the fire had extended to the attic area. The area where the fire originated in was opened up and embers were extinguished. The fire was confined to the bedroom where it had started. There were no injuries at this incident.

The home suffered fire damage to the bedroom on the second floor and there was moderate smoke damage on the rest of the second floor. A preliminary damage estimate is $11,000.00.

21 fire personnel responded to the fire with 5 fire engines and 1 Command vehicle.
Upon completion of the fire departments investigation it was determined the cause of the fire was accidental. The fire appeared to start on the window sill where incense had been burning.
