[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department Responds to Semi-truck Fire at Oasis Truck Stop in Bismarck

Bismarck, ND - On May 14, 2014 at 12:40 AM the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a semi-truck on fire at the StaMart truck stop, 3936 E Divide Ave. in NE Bismarck (known more commonly as Oasis Truck Stop).

While responding the arriving fire company reported smoke and fire visible from a distance away from the fire. A report came in that nobody was in the vehicle. Fire crews arrived to find a fully involved Volvo semi-truck with the trailer beginning to burn. Crews attacked the fire with multiple hose lines. Crews knocked the fire down quickly. Twelve firefighters responded to the fire.

The owner of the semi had been sleeping in the sleeper area of the truck when he was awakened by a bystander who pounded on his door and told him that there was fire on his truck; he escaped with no injuries. He was hauling a load of potatoes.

The truck is a total loss.
