[ARCHIVED] Bismarck’s Renaissance Zone Program Extended for Five Years

COB-Comm-Dev-Logo-FC-RGB

The City of Bismarck’s Renaissance Zone Program has been extended for an additional five years beginning on January 4, 2025. The program, which provides temporary local property tax and state income tax exemptions to eligible projects, helps spur community investment. The Renaissance Zone Program has contributed to Bismarck by maintaining a long-term, stable tax base and reinforcing the core of Bismarck as a vibrant regional hub for employment, housing, commerce, and recreation.

The program has been used to develop vacant parcels, rehabilitate existing buildings, or lease spaces in buildings. The end results of Renaissance Zone projects are reinvigorated properties that allow downtown Bismarck, and some surrounding areas, to continue to grow and evolve while utilizing existing roads, pipes, and city services. The combination of revitalized properties using existing public infrastructure allows for increasingly efficient use of land, resources, and public funds. The extension of the Renaissance Zone Program for an additional five years comes after it received the continued support of the Bismarck City Commission, Burleigh County Commission, Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners, and Bismarck School Board.
