Bismarck Historical Society LogoWHO: Bismarck Historical Society

WHAT: March 2023 Program “Who Was Little Casino”

WHERE: Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, Meeting Room A

WHEN: Wednesday, March 8, 2023, 6:30 PM

BISMARCK, ND—The Bismarck Historical Society will be hosting a special program at Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library Meeting Room A on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 6:30 PM.

The speaker for this presentation will be Marilyn Snyder, a member of the Bismarck Historical Society Board of Directors. The topic of this presentation is “Who Was Little Casino?” Marilyn will speak about a woman who got off the train in the newly-formed city of Bismarck Dakota Territory in the early 1870s. With her were her "girls." In a short while, she was the talk of Bismarck society and city fathers for her beautiful house and her philanthropy. Almost 40 years later she died alone and was buried in an unmarked grave.

Thanks to DNA testing and the historical records of her family, we now know who Little Casino was and can follow her from her birth through her life to her death. This presentation will reveal her real name, her journey to Bismarck and her final days near Wilton. Her contributions to making Bismarck the capital of Dakota Territory and later North Dakota will be part of the adventure.

Come join us as Marilyn Snyder takes us on a journey to discover, “Who Was Little Casino?”
