Filled sandbags are now available for residents to pick up at the Bismarck Public Schools Facilities and Transportation Building (705 South 9th Street, the old Public Works Building across from the Police Department).
50,000 filled sandbags are available and trucks will continue bringing more filled sandbags throughout the day.
Crews ask that you enter the south side of the parking lot, using the Arbor Avenue entrance. This site is for FILLED sandbags only – no sandbags will be filled at this site. A maximum of 250 sandbags allowed per vehicle.
Volunteers are NOT needed at this site. Volunteers should report to the city’s other sandbag filling sites.
• Missouri Valley Fairgrounds (3805 E. Bismarck Expressway) - open 24 hours a day.
• Sandbag Central South Northern Plains Commerce Center (1901 Northern Plains Drive) - open 24 hours a day.
• Ash Coulee Water Tower, West of Washington Street on Ash Coulee Drive
• Santa Fe Avenue, Cottonwood Complex west of South 12th Street
• Whispering Bay Subdivision, Shoreline Circle
• 48th Avenue and Sibley Drive (this site was previously located at Sibley Drive and Hester Drive)
• Ponderosa Park
• Hogue Island Boat Ramp
Volunteers are needed at all sites. They must register before they begin filling sandbags. Volunteers are asked to bring a shovel and gloves. Parental consent is required for those under age 18. Consent forms are available at both Sandbag Central and Sandbag Central South. You can also download the consent form at www.bismarck.org.
