[ARCHIVED] Flood Preparedness, Future Outlooks and River Observation Sources Update May 24

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, City and County officials monitor river levels and are continuously aware of flooding potential. Recent reports indicate that the Corps of Engineers will continue releases to make room for additional flood storage capacity in Lake Sakakawea. This would allow for reduced discharges during the runoff period which lowers the flood potential.

Flood Hotline now open 7 am - 11 pm. Call 355-1659

For more information about river monitoring and observation resources view Flood Preparedness and River Levels or call Bismarck Emergency Manager, Gary Stockert, (701) 222-6727.

The City is working closely with the U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers and N.D. Water Commission to monitor changing conditions. The City is closely monitoring river levels and the drainage ditch stormwater gates located at Washington Street and on Tavis Road. The City will take appropriate actions as warranted to protect citizens as conditions continue to change.
