[ARCHIVED] Three finalists names for Bismarck Police Chief

After a nationwide search, three people were selected as finalists to become Bismarck’s next police chief. Candidates named to progress to the next phase of screenings include: Dave Draovitch, Deputy Chief, Bismarck Police Department; Philip A. Smith, Jr., Chief of Police, City of Roswell, NM; and Gregory Volker, Division Commander, Kansas City, MO Police Department. The candidates are required to complete an accomplishment survey. Once complete, results will be reviewed by a committee knowledgeable in law enforcement.  

The finalists will then continue on to the next phase of the selection process, a general management in-basket exercise designed to assess leadership and management skills. Candidate interviews will take place with the Bismarck City Commission, July 20, 8:00 a.m., at a special meeting of the Board of Commissioners in the City County Building, Tom Baker Room, 221 N 5th St., Bismarck.
 
Eleven applicants met the minimum qualifications for the position of police chief.
