The City of Bismarck City Roads and Streets Department is preparing for a potential winter storm this weekend.
As the winter storm begins, snow plows will be working 24 hours a day, on emergency routes and major arterial streets to keep them open. Blowing and drifting snow will be an issue with this storm. City crews will work with emergency managers as a resource in emergency situations. Once the storm is passed and these routes are open, plows will move into residential areas, if we receive over 4 inches of snow, or as needed due to blowing and drifting.
A reminder to businesses and residents:
Please move vehicles off streets to aid in snow removal operations.
According to City Ordinance a person may not move, dump or deposit by any means any snow or ice accumulated on private property onto any public street, alley, or public right-of-way. The fine for this violation is up to $1,000.
Mailbox
It is the property owner’s responsibility to clear snow around their mailbox. For cluster boxes, it is the responsibility of all the mail recipients to clear the snow from around the box.
