[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to trailer home fire

At approximately 2:44 PM on Friday, January 12, 2018, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a report of a dryer fire at a trailer home on the 4600 block of Bunker Drive.  The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched to investigate.

When the first fire crew arrived on scene, they made a report of nothing showing.  The fire crew established command and conducted a scene size-up.  Firefighters entered the trailer with water extinguishers where they found light smoke throughout the house and moderate smoke in the laundry area.  The investigating fire crew found that there had been a fire involving the dryer vent. The fire burned on the underside of the home and caused a water line to separate and extinguish most of the fire.  Crews confirmed the fire was out and shut off the water supply to the home. Additional fire units arrived and assisted with utilities, ventilation, overhaul, and worked to minimize water damage to the house.

Once the house was ventilated of smoke, the electricity was restored, and the furnace was restarted to prevent the plumbing from freezing.  Four fire department apparatus and 10 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.  Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control.  Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide assistance.

The house was occupied at the time of the fire but the occupants were not displaced.  One fire crew returned to the home later in the day to check for any potential for a rekindle and found nothing.  The cause of the fire has been classified as undetermined.  Total damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $1500.00.
