[ARCHIVED] Downtown Bismarck One-Way to Two-Way Lane Conversion Public Information Meeting June 29

The City of Bismarck will hold a public information meeting to inform the public about the conversion of downtown one-way streets to two-way in the Chancellor Square area between 4th and 6th Street, and Thayer and Broadway Avenues. The meeting will be held June 29, 5:15 pm, in the Tom Baker Room, City-County Building, 221 N 5th Street, Bismarck, ND.

The public is invited to attend to learn more about the downtown lane conversion.

Benefits of the two-way conversion include:

  • Reduced vehicle speeds
  • Reduced distance traveled and improved traffic circulation
  • Reduced driver confusion
  • Improved vehicular access to the downtown area, enhanced livability and walkability
  • Improved access to existing parking lots and parking ramps
  • Increased drive-by traffic and improved storefront visibility to retail establishments

City Engineer, Gabe Schell says most of the construction associated with the conversion involves signing and pavement marking rehabilitations and converting the traffic signals on Fifth Street at Thayer and Broadway Avenues to all way stop controls.

If you’re unable to attend in person, view the meeting live on Cable 2 or 602 HD Government Access TV, or live-streamed at http://dakotamediaaccess.org/watch-live-2/ or video on-demand at http://dakotamediaaccess.org/special-meetings-videos/.
