[ARCHIVED] Citywide Voluntary Outdoor Water Use Restrictions for Bismarck Requested Immediately

Residents of Bismarck, the City of Lincoln and customers of the South Central Regional Water District served by the City of Bismarck are asked to refrain from using water for outdoor water usage, including sprinkler systems, and lawn watering due to the dry weather conditions until further notice.


•Bismarck residents and businesses with even numbered house numbers are asked to water lawns on Monday and Thursday.

•Residents and businesses with odd numbered house numbers are asked to water lawns on Tuesday and Friday.


If you have a lawn sprinkling or irrigation system that is set on an automatic schedule we request that you change the scheduled irrigation until further notice. This will help greatly in conserving water.


•Residents in northwest Bismarck, north of Century Avenue and west of State Street, are asked to continue to refrain from using water for anything other than essential purposes until further notice.  Low water reservoir levels specifically in this region require this additional restriction.  


Reservoir levels are currently low and the requested reductions in water use will allow the reservoirs to refill. Customers may experience low water pressure until the reservoirs and towers can be refilled to their normal levels.


The requested reductions in water use will assist in getting the reservoirs refilled. With the forecast for higher temperatures this week it is important for the City system to have an ample supply of water in its storage reservoirs. Michelle Klose, Director of Utility Operations said that because of the recent hot weather, water usage in the city is trending upward. The public will be notified when normal water reservoir levels are restored or if further restrictions are needed.
