Today the Bismarck Police Department held a ceremony to officially recognize two officers who were recently promoted in rank.
Luke Gardiner was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. He began his employment with the Bismarck Police Department on May 16, 2006. Before his promotion to Lieutenant, Gardiner was assigned as the sergeant in Traffic. As an officer he worked in Patrol, Traffic and Narcotics Investigations.
Lieutenant Gardiner is an assistant team leader with the West Dakota SWAT Team. He is also a certified Instructor of Police Topics, Drug Recognition Expert, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor, and ARIDE Instructor.
In his new position, Lieutenant Gardiner has been assigned as a shift supervisor in Patrol.
Cody Berger was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He began his employment with the Bismarck Police Department on October 1, 2012 and has worked in Patrol the entire time.
Sergeant Berger is a member of the West Dakota SWAT Team, assists with K9 training and is an Adopt a Cop officer at Will Moore Elementary School. He also served as a Patrol Training Officer before his promotion.
The Bismarck Police Department has a current authorized strength of 124 sworn officers and 30 civilians.
