At 6:12 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2016, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of fire and heavy smoke coming from a storage building on the 2400 block of Morrison Avenue. Four engines, a rescue truck, and a Battalion Chief responded.
Upon arrival firefighters found very heavy smoke, with flames coming from the roof of the building. The fire had fully involved two units on arrival, and was spreading to surrounding units. Firefighters forced entry into numerous units of the building during firefighting efforts. Fire had also extended into the attic of the building, causing partial collapse of a portion of the roof. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to five or six individual storage units, and stopped the spread through the attic.
Firefighters remain on scene this morning to investigate the cause of the fire, and to monitor for smoldering areas.
Damage estimates are yet to be determined.
