[ARCHIVED] Cities of Bismarck and Mandan Launch Citizen Housing Survey

The Cities of Bismarck and Mandan are conducting a Housing Demand Analysis to determine both the present and future housing needs of the two communities for the next three, five, ten and fifteen years. An important activity of the Housing Demand Analysis is to ask local residents about the housing needs of each community. A Citizen Housing Survey begins May 11.

Residents of Bismarck and Mandan are encouraged to take part and complete the online survey.

Community input begins with the Bismarck-Mandan Citizen Housing Survey and will follow with a housing demand analysis. Additional community input will be gathered in a variety of ways. Community listening sessions will be held in June to gain community insight and receive feedback from citizens. Input will also be sought from both Bismarck and Mandan City administrators and key, local housing stakeholders.

The Bismarck-Mandan Housing Demand Analysis is meant to help decision makers and community members develop a meaningful sense of the housing market as well as an understanding of key housing issues. It is designed to provide a measured assessment of present and future unmet housing demand, with a focus on providing a deeper understanding of short-to-mid-term housing demand. The report is intended to offer community leaders a basis for thinking about community-specific housing policies and affordable housing strategies. The Housing Demand Analysis is being conducted by Hanna:Keelan Associates, P.C.

The project is a joint effort of both cities and involves community stakeholders in Bismarck and Mandan. It is funded in-part with a grant from NeighborWorks America/CommunityWorks ND, with the balance of project costs shared by the cities of Bismarck and Mandan, based on population.
