[ARCHIVED] Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization Requests Input on Transportation Alternatives

The Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization has developed preliminary summaries of roadway, bike, pedestrian, and transit alternatives to consider for inclusion in the 2015-2040 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). The preliminary alternatives are based on input gathered from state and local agencies, local officials, and community members along with technical analyses completed by the study team.

The Metropolitan Planning Organization requests citizen input on the transportation alternatives during the 30-day review period. Comments can be submitted until August 15, 2014. The comment period timeframe will allow the Metropolitan Planning Organization time to review and include citizen input in the draft LRTP. The Metropolitan Planning Organization expects that the draft LRTP will be published in the fall of 2014 for public review and comment, and that the final LRTP will be published by the end of 2014.

The preliminary summary alternatives documents are available for review on the LRTP website at www.envisionbisman2040.com on the resources page. In addition, links to the alternatives documents will be available on the LRTP social media sites including Facebook at www.facebook.com/envisionbisman2040 and Twitter at mobile.twitter.com/envision2040.

The 2015-2040 Bismarck-Mandan Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is a community-driven process that establishes a vision for mobility in Bismarck, Mandan, Lincoln and portions of Burleigh and Morton Counties. The LRTP identifies multi-modal transportation goals, needs, investment priorities, and an implementation plan for the future transportation system. This includes the street and road network, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, transit (CAT bus), and freight movement. The overall goal of the LRTP is to improve multi-modal mobility, accessibility and safety for people and freight.
