> CURRENT DISPLAY: Friends of the Rail Bridge <

Bismarck Public Library’s current lobby display highlights information and items from the Friends of the Rail Bridge (FORB). FORB has been an advocate for a preservation alternative to the proposed demolition of the 1883 Bismarck-Mandan Rail Bridge. FORB continues their efforts to preserve the historic Bismarck-Mandan1883 rail bridge and inform the public of the preservation process with a window display at the Bismarck Public library. The display shows the past, present and possible future outcome of either a demolished bridge or a recreational pedestrian and cycling bridge to connect the Bismarck- Mandan trail system. The bridge is an iconic landmark for the community and state, receiving the distinction by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to its 2019 list of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. The FORB bridge display can be viewed through the end of January.
