Community Recognition

The early stages of regular Bismarck City Commission meetings provide an opportunity for community recognition of achievement. The City of Bismarck traditionally provides the public with an opportunity to work with City staff to recognize a particular community endeavor, individual or group through a proclamation or certificate of achievement.

Proclamations are declarations often used to celebrate or draw attention to a specific event, achievement or cause. Proclamations are approved by the City of Bismarck on a case-by-case basis. To submit your proposed proclamation or to submit information and to work with City of Bismarck staff to develop a proclamation, please complete this online form. Due to the volume of submissions, a submission does not guarantee recognition.

Certificates of achievement are traditionally given to recognize significant accomplishment within the community. Examples of this include someone attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, being a Gold Award recipient, making a significant contribution to the community, etc. Certificates of achievement are approved by the City of Bismarck on a case-by-case basis. To submit your proposed certificate of achievement information please complete this online form. Due to the volume of submissions, a submission does not guarantee recognition.

All-America City

All-America City LogoThe All-America City Award is America’s oldest and most prestigious community recognition award. For decades, the All-America City Award has encouraged and recognized civic excellence, honoring communities of all sizes (cities, towns, counties, etc.) in which citizens, government, businesses, and voluntary organizations work together to address critical local issues. The City of Bismarck was named an All-America City in 1997.

Request an Appearance of the Mayor

The Mayor frequently receives requests to provide welcome remarks for group gatherings for conferences or activities in which he is welcoming individuals to the community. This is an opportunity to highlight the many wonderful offerings our community has, from our many unique restaurant and plentiful retail options, the largest public school district in the state, and a flourishing Parks District that helps us recreate 12 months a year. Bismarck is a wonderful place to call home, and he is proud to share that message. Please complete this form to submit a request to have the Mayor provide welcome remarks at your event.
