  2. Visiting Scientist Series Presentation: Heavy Metal Cadmium Exposure and Bladder Cancer

    Emily Biggane, Ph.D., research faculty member in the Intertribal Research and Resource Center at United Tribes Technical College, will present her research related to bladder cancer. Cadmium is toxic to humans and is a metal element that is found in the environment. Come learn about cadmium’s link to bladder cancer and what happens to SPARC, an important product of human cells.

  1. Lapsit Baby Story Time

    This story time is for children held in caregiver laps for books, songs, and puppets. Through this story time interaction, your baby will develop language and social skills. Plus, story time fosters a close emotional relationship between you and your baby. Babies learn to associate books with the pleasure of being with parents, and this pleasure will translate to a love of reading.

    This story time focuses on books, puppets, and songs. Speaking puppets help bring stories to life and spark the imagination in your child. Our main focus at Preschool Story Time is to instill a love of reading, encourage creativity, and help children become aware of the world around them.

  3. Wiggle Time

    Wiggle Time is an hour long free-play for children and their parents or caregivers. They are invited to explore a mix of play experiences including blocks, puppets/puppet stage, dramatic play toys, trampoline, and other play equipment. Adults must be in attendance at all times and are responsible for children's safety.

  4. BARK - Bismarck Animals Reading with Kids

    October 24, 2019, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library Children’s Library Story Room

    BARK is for kids who want practice reading with non-judgmental listeners - dogs! The Library offers this special program with local therapy dogs. Children in grades K-5 sign up to read aloud to a dog for 20 minutes. The dog’s handler is present at all times. Contact Youth Services at 355-1489 for more details and to register. Each event date has designated reading times that must be reserved in advance. Readers may sign up for 3 sessions each.

  1. Volunteer Club for Teens

    Do you need volunteer hours for school, National Honor Society, or college applications? Or maybe you would just like to help out at the Library! The Volunteer Club is for you! We will meet once a month to work on projects in the Library, including but not limited to: putting together take-home craft kits for children, helping plan and set up events, and more! You do not have to attend every session or stay for the entire time. We know that teens are busy, but any help you can give is greatly appreciated!
