  1. Author Visit: Newzad Brifki, author of "My Journey to America: A Kurdish American Story"

    The library welcomes Newzad Brifki, founder and director of the Kurdish Community of America organization, for a reading from his memoir, My Journey to America, A Kurdish American Story. The book tells of the flight of Brifki's family from Sadaam Hussein's Iraq to a refugee camp in Turkey, to their eventual resettlement in the United States. A book signing will follow the visit, and books will be available for purchase. All ages are welcome.

    This story time is for children held in caregiver laps for books, songs, and puppets. Through this story time interaction, your baby will develop language and social skills. Plus, story time fosters a close emotional relationship between you and your baby. Babies learn to associate books with the pleasure of being with parents, and this pleasure will translate to a love of reading.
