Seniors Speak Writing Workshop

This is a free workshop open to all who are interested in writing their stories (designed for seniors 50+ but all ages are welcome). Presenter Debra Marquart will discuss what makes good writing, lead participants through writing prompts, and share where to find publishing outlets. This workshop is sponsored by the ND Humanities Council and the Friends of the Bismarck Public Library.

Debra Marquart is the author of five books including Small Buried Things: Poems and The Horizontal World: Growing Up Wild in the Middle of Nowhere, which won the PEN USA Nonfiction Award and Elle Magazine’s “Elle Lettres” Award. She directs the MFA Program in Creative Writing and Environment at Iowa State University and serves as the Senior Editor of Flyway: Journal of Writing & Environment.
